Usually ships in 1 business days | | | The fourth installment in Moyer's marvelous Lucy Hatch series (after Heartbreak Town) is as refreshing as an icy cold Coke on a hot afternoon in northeast Texas. The fortunes of cowgirl Lucy Hatch have been up and down since her husband, singer/songwriter Ash Farrell, lost his recording contract and hightailed it home to Mooney, Tex. (pop. 990), to reunite with Lucy and son Jude. Not that Lucy doesn't appreciate his renewed commitment (and his handyman abilities), but she knows he has plenty of problems, and his creative block isn't helping things, nor is the fact that Lucy's job at a flower shop is in peril. Also complicating matters is the whirlwind arrival of Lucy's pregnant stepdaughter, Denny Culpepper, a rising country star who caught her husband cheating on her. Lucy and Denny realize their lives are falling apart, and pulling together means accepting change and, sometimes, making hard decisions. Austinite Moyer captures smalltown Texas life with a sure touch, offering insights about how families survive. (Feb.) Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. Charming... Apr 13, 2008 If you are a fan of the author's previous Lucy Hatch stories, Marsha Moyer has a treat for you in this charming story of a lovely, yet dysfunctional family.
At the center of a brewing crisis is Denny, a young successful country singer, who has dramatically fled Nashville, Tennessee. She escapes to her family's home located in a rural community in northeast Texas. Denny is the daughter of Ash, a once-successful country songwriter and singer who has ghosts and demons of his own with which to wrestle. They have a history that seems, at times, will never be reconciled.
The author reveals Denny, Lucy and Ash's dialog, with all of their flaws and virtues using the first-person voice. I like this approach to storytelling, because you are personally engaged in the drama, emotions, decisions, questions and choices good or bad each character experiences.
If you're not yet a fan, you may want to treat yourself to a feel-good story that has plenty of plot twist and turns to keep you up nights turning page after of page. You'll discover that you are drawn into this very human, volatile, complex and, at times, fragile family drama.
Armchair Interviews says: A highly recommended feel-good story.
Texas writer Apr 06, 2008 Marsha Moyer has written several books in the Lucy Hatch series and after finishing each one, I want to begin another. I know she intends to end the series soon but I want it to go on and on.
My group of friends have all read Miss Moyer's series and we anxiously await each new one.
Highly recommend this writer.

Lucy [and Marsha Moyer] are back in great form! Apr 02, 2008 'The Second Coming of Lucy Hatch' was a delightful little book - unheralded in the world of books but greatly loved by those who found it. Bad boy Ash and the good widow Lucy met and passion erupted. And Lucy did a lot of growing up.
The second 'Lucy' book - 'The Last of the Honky-Tonk Angels' introduced Denny, Ash's misfit teen-age daughter, and provided further insights into Ash and Lucy's relationship. It was a satisfying read.
The third book, 'Heartbreak Town,' was much less enjoyable for me. Moyer's depiction of Lucy's life married to a 'bad boy' was rather dark and far too talky for me.
So it was with great trepidation that I bought 'Return of the Stardust Cowgirl.' Afterall, even Harriet who praises everything had given it only four stars. Harriet, did you read this one? Cause it's a winner.
I was led to believe that this is the last of the series and it seems to be as all the threads are neatly tied up by the end. But there's a lot of straightening out to do. Ash has to deal with his alcoholism and inability to compose, Lucy has issues of trust, Denny has to face the results of an impetuous marriage, and even the flower shop has to face a few fiscal realities.
In general Moyer's novels shine with a down-home truth; her characters don't have unbelievable adventures, they simply learn to deal with real life - with grace, courage, and acceptance. We watch Lucy grow and change and learn to make the best of the hand that life has dealt her.
Can't wait for book Number 5!!!! Mar 23, 2008 I just finished this book and can't wait for book number 5....Ms. Moyer takes you to Texas and invites you to live along side the Farrells...I miss them already!!!

wonderful look at family life in small-town Texas Feb 26, 2008 In northeast Texas, cowgirl Lucy Hatch worries about their future since the recording contract of her on the road husband Ash Farrell was ended. Despondent, Ash returned to Mooney to move back in with his wife and their son Jude.
Lucy has mixed feelings about Ash staying home. On the one hand he is very handy at fixing things; on the other he has issues starting with his songwriter's block. She also worries that she will soon be unemployed as Peggy Thaney, owner of Faye's Flowers, is retiring and closing the florist shop that Lucy works at. However the biggest problem besides Ash's renewed vow to his family is the arrival of her stepdaughter rising country western star Denny Culpepper, who left her cheating husband Will and his Nashville Cats although she carries his offspring.
Rotating perspective between Lucy and Denny, readers see deep into the Texas roots of both beleaguered, bewildered women as each feels their life is being nuked by outside forces causing unwanted changes and in turn forcing them to make decisions neither wants to make. The pair actually bond helping each other with coping. Fans will appreciate Marsha Moyer's wonderful look at family life in small-town rural Texas in her latest Lucy Hatch tale (see THE SECOND COMING OF LUCY HATCH, THE LAST OF THE HONKY-TONK ANGELS, and HEARTBREAK TOWN).
